A thought for the new year...

We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched.  Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives... not looking for flaws, but for potential

I have a new favourite TV show...

I do. I stumbled across it today, instead of working.

It's America's Most Smartest Model.

Apparently, the series was filmed in 2007 and is described on MSN as a series that "tests the widespread perception that beauty and brains are inversely proportional. Does a life devoted to looking good lead to stupidity? Seven "bimbos" and seven "himbos" face a variety of challenges to test both their intelligence and their appearance. The winner who proves he or she is more than just a pretty face pockets a smart $100,000 in prize money, as well as the coveted title of America's Most Smartest Model."

The joke of course, is that they are, quite seriously, hoping to be named the Most Smartest.

How the judges in this show keep a striaght face is beyond me. I have to find the whole thing on DVD and watch it from start to finish. It's priceless.

The best comments I heard on today's episode...

One boy model talking about another boy model: "Well, he's black, gay and overweight, so he must have issues from at least one of those."

Sexy blonde referring to non-model type brought in to help with challenge.: "He's not very attractive so he not used to mixing with the calibre of people like us."

Loser after being voted off this week's episode: "Well, I may not be the most smartest, but I still have lots of love... for me."

These people make Next Top Model contestants look like Nobel Laureates. LOL

Making Russell feel at home...

I have a new cat.

As usual, this is a rescue brought into the clinic. Russell is a one year old, black and white tom that was caught in a trap for several days before someone rescued him and delivered him to the vet clinic because the RSPCA is full and they are euthanising all cats dropped in there at the moment, pretty much as soon as they arrive.

We named him after Russell Crowe because he's a real bruiser, covered in scars and cuts and scabs with chunks out of his coat and not an ounce of fat on him. He looks like a real bruiser.

And he is the smoochiest cat I have ever met. Have to lock him on the pussy balcony when I'm working because he won't leave me alone to type.

Stevie the Princess and Declan the Psycho Kitty, however, are somewhat unimpressed by their new brother.

I wonder if Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have this much trouble when they bring a new baby into the house?

I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Review of The Immortal Prince

Got a nice review for Christmas.

This one from Bookloons.

"Fallon's writing is smooth, her dialogue fun and lively, and her descriptions elegant yet sparse enough to not be off-putting. A terrific beginning to a promising new series, The Immortal Prince will delight even the most jaded fantasy readers."
