Got an "Ask Jenny" question the other day, which I get quite often, so I thought I'd better answer it for all of you who'd like a DCT or Hythrun Chronicles sequel.

I recently finished reading both of these trilogies & have completely fallen in love! I was enthralled with the ways of the Harshini & was excited by the subtle events that linked each book to the next. Most fantasy books follow a common format, but these took fantasy to a new level. It was wonderful to see such a large part of the plots centering around politics and the complications that can result from the desire of people to not only survive, but to come out on top.

 

I am, however, confused by some of the events that are connected between books but at times seem to condract each other. In the Demon Child series there is no mention at all of Wrayan. I was rather suprised and a little dissapointed. He was a main figure in the Wolfblade Trilogy, and closely related to events having to do with the Harshini, so I was quite suprised to see that he had completely dissapeared. Also, in the book Harshini, Brak desribes and event in which Shannara sleeps with the husband of the first sister. Brak said this was the only time that Shannara slept with a human, but in the WBT Wrayan slept with Shannara. I was sad that Marla seemed to disapear in the DCT. Her powerful presance seems to be overshadowed by R'shiel. But perhaps it was just time to pass the torch.

The answer is simple. I wrote the Demon Child trilogy first. Many of the major characters in the Hythrun Chronicles don't appear in the other series because I hadn't even thought of them yet.

All in all I completely enjoyed the experience of following the characters through their trials & triumphs. Is there at all a possiblity that another book or series will be written to follow the story of the Demon Child after Xaphista, and maybe the result of Damon marrying the Fardonyan Princess Adrina and the baby the will be born?

PS: If you want a sequel for any series on mine, don't just email me, email the publishers. I have so many projects lined up at the moment that I'm prioritising according to who wants what. I won't be writing anything "just on spec". I just don't have the time. The best way to ensure a sequel is to have a publisher commission one and that's not going to happen unless people like you ask for it.
