Rocking the "Contender" lookI have two black eyes. This interesting state of affairs is all the fault of a blown lightglobe. You see, the blown globe was in one of those georgous decorative brass light fittings that hangs on a pulley and adjusts to whatever height you want it. So, I pulled it down to change the globe a couple of weeks ago... and pulled too hard. It now requires someone to get atop a ladder (16' catherdral ceilings, you see) to unjam the pulley's and put it back up where it belongs. For about 2 weeks now, it's been hanging there... taunting me. Light-fitting with lovely solid brass shade is about 5' off the ground. Which, coincidentally, is exactly the same height as the bridge of my nose... Do I need to spell out what happened next? Ouch... (not what I said when I walked into to it, which was much more, ahem, colourful...)

Ouch! I'm sorry hun, sounds painful, hope you feel better soon.
I only have one black eye fortunately. I walked out my door two nights ago to let the dog out. Wham! A Japanese hornet, which is basically a hornet the size of a small airplane, obviously thought I was looking at it funny. It smacked me right in the eye, setting it on fire, then went on it's merry way, laughing insanely. After I had my daughter remove the stinger I kept ice on it for 2 hours, praying it didn't swell my eye shut as I had a family function to attend the next day. "No, honest, I didn't get hit in the eye, it was insane hornet, no, really! Please stop rolling your eyes that way....." I got lucky, the swelling wasn't too bad though it still burned throughout the next day and it waited until today to turn all kinds of pretty colors! Know any good brands of sunglasses? I think we might both need some :)
so are you going to get the boxers shorts, towel etc, and do the whole Rocky pose for photos?
I kneed myself in the eye once, if that makes you feel better. :)
