I don't know art, but I know what I like...I'm off to the art gallery at Araluen on the weekend with Dace to show him the travelling "Ocean to Outback - Australian Landscapes from 1850-1950" exhibition, which is currently on show (our taxpayer $$$s at work). It features some of the most I'm sure Dace will find it very interesting, but I am left wondering why we only get boring old masterpieces here in the outback. I mean... we could have got a giant inflatable dog poo... Yes, I did say, dog poo. You see, in Geneva, a giant inflatable poo put forward as "art" by American artist Paul McCarthy blew away from an exhibition in the garden of a Swiss museum the other day (Swiss taxpayer $$$s at work). Apparently it brought down a power line and broke a window in a children's home before it landed again 200 metres away. The art work, titled Complex Shit, is the size of a house. The curator said McCarthy (the, ahem, artist) had not yet been contacted and the museum was not sure if Complex Shit would be put back on display. I'll bet the locals are just hanging out for that to happen:)
