Let's do the time warp again...

Ah, publishers... they are a funny breed. And the concept of sequential time seems to be foreign to them.

Let me give you an example...

Once upon a time I wrote the Demon Child Trilogy. A few years later I followed it up with the Hythrun Chronicles which was a prequel to the Demon Child (for that saga you'll have to read yesterday's blog). The US publishers bought both series and published them as the Hythrun Chronicles and released them, in a very Star Wars-ish sequence (hey... it worked for George Lucas) that is Espisode 4, 5 and 6, before Episodes 1, 2 and 3.

Now the Australian publishers did this, too, but that's not so bad, because they didn't actually have the Hythrun Chronicles when they published the Demon Child. The US did, however, have the first book, Wolfblade, and released them out of order anyway, and then realised how confusing it was so they went back to calling books 3, 4 and 5 the Demon Child Trilogy, and books 4, 5 and 6 the Wolfblade Trilogy, which were the two trilogies that make up the 6 book Hythrun Chronicles.

Have I lost you yet?

At this point, I suspect the UK publishers stuck their fingers in their ears and started to run around in circles singing "la-la-la, I can't hear any of this", so they didn't have to deal with the whole time sequence issue at all... hahahaha.

Happily, this state of confusion doesn't seem to have done any damage to the sales and all the books are doing very well and I'm still getting fan mail asking for Damin Wolfblade's phone number.

But, just when I thought it was safe to count from 1 to 6 in order, again, I get the fabulous new covers for the re-released editions of the Australian Demon Child Trilogy, which were done (by popular demand) to match the Hythrun Chronicles (US Wolfblade Trilogy) covers.

When they arrived I almost fell off my chair laughing.

Emblazoned across the top of the back cover is this:

And now I can't get the words of Rocky Horror's Time Warp out of my head..

Anyway, for those of you who are interested, behold the new Australian covers of the Demon Child Trilogy, the bestselling sequel to the Hythrun Chronicles...  ROFL

They look pretty, all chonological issues aside. I'd certainly buy them if I didn't already own them in thier original covers.

Was the artwork also done by Les Petersen?

I like them better than the old ones...when are they out?

Yes, Tsana, Les did the artwork.

And Aaron, they'll be out in October.

Wow, they are pretty. The dragons on the North American cover are amazing, though.

I really love the border detail on these... I'm a sucker for a good border detail.

Wow, that sounds like so much fun....really! The covers look gorgeous, but I do like the originals, personally. (US edition) I've recently read the Demon Child Trilogy (first) and have fallen madly in love with them. (I tend to do that with good fantasy, especially with Dragons....and demons.)

Oh, and can have Damin Wolfblade's phone number? Or Tarja's since he's free....rofl...loved the part with R'shiel and Brak in Sanctuary at the end.
